Free English Classes!

Redeemer offers free English classes for those in our community who want a safe and friendly environment to practice their English as well as learn more about American culture.  These classes were featured in CenterPoint magazine: Read more about how the classes got started and are changing lives right here in Mason!

The classes run through the school year and cater to non-native speakers of all levels, whether beginner, intermediate and advanced. Each class revolves around a different topic, introducing students to vocabulary and common conversation topics that are applicable to everyday life. Each class is set up so that students spend the bulk of the time practicing the language through small-group settings as well as one-on-one.

These classes are currently offered at Redeemer House (4886 Old Irwin Simpson Road; Mason, Ohio) on Thursday mornings and evenings. We are also offering a casual conversations on Tuesdays and a Bible study on Thursdays. (Scroll down for current class offerings.) These are also a great way to connect with other non-native speakers and immigrants in the area!

If you are interested in volunteering, please see the bottom of this page for more details!

This is a time to get together, have conversations and experiences together, and enjoy being with each other.  These are NOT formal language classes.  No childcare will be provided, but kids are welcome.  We will be doing different things each week - sharing about our families, learning how to make bracelets, petting puppies, cooking meals and more!

This year we will offer 2 classes: intermediate and advanced. Classes will include a book but will mainly focus on conversation practice.  Childcare hopefully provided!

THURSDAYS - ESL Bible Exploration (11:00-noon)

This will be a time to discuss the Bible and Christianity and answer any questions you have!  We will talk about different topics each week.  Childcare hopefully provided.

THURSDAYS - ESL Classes and tutoring (7:00-8:30 pm)

Help as a Volunteer!

Redeemer's ESL ministry is able to exist thanks to all of its volunteers who take the time to assist with classes and help students practice their English. No foreign language fluency is necessary; all you need is a desire to help these non-native speakers have a safe place to learn the language and culture!

Volunteers are needed to pair up with students as well as to provide childcare during each class (during morning sessions) or tutor elementary-age students (during evening sessions). This can be a great opportunity for high-school and college-age students to gain volunteer hours!

Finally, Redeemer also offers an optional Bible study each week that students can attend if they wish. For many of these students, this may be the first time they have ever heard the Gospel or the name of Jesus! This is a great way the church can reach the nations without even leaving the suburbs!
